Diagnostic imaging at Havant NHS Diagnostic Centre

We use the latest technology and techniques to provide a range of diagnostic investigations. If you require a diagnostic investigaton, your GP will send a referral form or letter. A scheduler will then contact you to arrange a suitable time for your appointment. Alternatively, your GP may ask you to contact the centre direct via telephone to schedule your investigation.

Please note: We don't offer treatments to patients under the age of 18.

Diagnostic Imaging
Ultrasound

An ultrasound scan builds up a picture of part of the inside of the body using sound waves that cannot be detected by a human ear. A small, hand-held sensor is pressed carefully against the skin surface above the area to be viewed. View a patient information guide about Ultrasound.

X-rays

X-rays are used by medical professionals to image various parts of the human body to aid diagnosis. Diagnostic X-rays are a controlled form of radiation which are able to pass through the body recording an image on a light-sensitive detector or computer screen. View a patient information guide about X-rays.

Echocardiogram

An echocardiogram is an ultrasound scan of the heart. It is sometimes just called an ‘echo’. Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to view internal structures of the body. An echocardiogram will enable the anatomy and the functionality of the heart to be visualised and will allow the cardiac physiologist to view the heart muscle, chambers and other internal structures such as the valves.
